The Perfect Smooth Blowout: Hair Undone's Recipe

That perfect salon blowout is achievable at home, but requires the right combination of products and tools. At Hair Undone, we've perfected the art of the blowout, and we're excited to share our recipe with you. Here's a breakdown of the essential tools and products you'll need:

Tools:

  1. Comb: Best used in the shower after applying your conditioner- this will help detangle while the hair is wet, making it easier to detangle when it’s dry.

  2. Wet Brush: Once your hair is detangled and towel dried, switch to a wet brush to further smooth out any remaining knots. A wet brush is designed to be gentle on wet hair and helps minimize breakage. Start from the bottom of your hair and work up- this will ensure you are working all the knots out.

  3. Blowdryer: A high-quality blowdryer with adjustable heat and speed settings is essential for achieving a smooth and sleek blowout. Choose a blowdryer with a concentrator nozzle attachment for more precise styling. We recommend hair dryers from Dyson or Babyliss. Depending on your hair type- it may not be neccessary to apply the maximum amount of heat during your blowdry. Start on a lower setting and increase if you are finding it is not getting the results your looking for.

  4. Round Brush: Opt for a round brush with natural bristles, as they provide better grip and control while blow-drying. The size of the brush will depend on the length of your hair; choose a larger barrel for longer hair and a smaller barrel for shorter hair. Our stylists like to use 1.25” typically for the most control. You can also purchase a blowdryer that has a round brush attatchement for the best of both worlds!

  5. Flat Iron: For added polish and smoothness, a flat iron is the final step in achieving the perfect blowout. Choose a flat iron with ceramic plates for even heat distribution and minimal damage to your hair. Use sparingly in areas that need a little extra smoothing to avoid all over heat damage.

When it comes to blowdrying your hair, it’s best to practice often to learn how to move your hands and the brush. Go slowly at first and use good tension on your brush. Using the right combination of tools and products, you can achieve the perfect blowout every time.

For today’s recipe we are using all of Surface Hair’s Blowout line! This product line uses Hemp and Babassu Oil which help keep your hair healthy, all while providing heat protection up to 450 degrees.

Products:

Wet Hair:

  1. Blowout Shampoo and Conditioner: Start by washing and conditioning your hair with the Blowout shampoo and conditioner. These products are formulated with Omega 3, 6, and 9 to cleanse and nourish your hair without weighing it down, creating the perfect foundation for styling.

  2. Blowout Primer Spray: Apply a small amount of Blowout primer spray to damp hair before blow-drying. Maracuja and Lychee Oil give hair a voluminous sugar punch and lasting style memory. The primer spray works on all hair types, but those with thicker, courser hair may want to try the Blowout Smoothing Balm instead.

  3. Blowout Memory Foam: Next, apply a small amount of blowout memory foam to your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. This product helps to add body and texture to your hair, making it easier to style and control.

Dry Hair:

  1. Blowout Texture Spray: For added volume and texture, mist the Blowout texture spray throughout your hair, focusing on the roots and crown. This spray helps to create lift and movement, giving your blowout that extra oomph.

  2. Blowout Dry Oil Spray: Once your hair is dry, apply a light mist of blowout dry oil spray to add shine and reduce frizz. This lightweight oil helps to smooth the hair cuticle and adds a glossy finish to your blowout.
