The Undercut Pixie

Also known as the classic pixie, it typically involves a clipper cut on the sides. The pixie in the photo has an asymetrical design to it- meaning it is longer on one side than the other. Here’s how to ask for this haircut:

”I’d like a pixie that is short on the sides, long on top and the back tapered. I’d like the top to be layered and texturized. I want the hair on the sides to cover my ears slighty and the back to be cleaned up so its straight”.

Your stylist may ask you questions like how long you’d like to keep the top, how much styling you’d like to do at home, or wether or not you’d like a bang.

The Bixie

A bixie, otherwise known as a “Bob Pixie”, is a style that is similar to a very short bob- but with varying length and textures not found in a traditional bob. Here’s how to ask for this haircut:

”I’d like to see the length in the back at chin level, with layers and texture throughout the back. I’d like the sides to have a lot of movement and shape. I’d like to be able to tuck the sides behind my ears”

Your stylist may ask you questions about if you’d like to incorporate bangs and their length and offer styling tips to help this style keep its shape.

The 90’s Pixie

A vintage haircut style with a modern flair, the 90’s pixie is making a comeback in a big way. The signature style includes heavier layers on the sides and top, with texture and movement throughout the back. This is a very versitile cut that can be styled in many different ways. Here’s how to ask for this cut:

“I’d like the top to have universal length layers that are just long enough to tuck behind the ears. I’d like to have the back flip outwards when I style it and have a lot of movement. I’d like my bangs and my layers to be roughly a uniform length.”

Your stylist may ask if you want to incorporate a bang- this cut would be perfect for the trendy curtain bang that is in style.

Curly Pixie

Pixie cuts are not just for straight hair. In fact, the textured style of cutting a pixie makes it perfect for those with curly hair looking to add more volume and style. Here’s how to ask for this haircut:

“I’d like to have a pixie that maintains my curl shape with universal layers all over, and a slight taper in the back. I’d like to keep the neckline textured to keep things natural looking.”

Styling this cut and keeping your curls hydrated will be essential in maintaining this shape!

Overall there are many ways to communicate the style you are looking for. These phrases will be a great way to express your wants to your stylist and open the door to a great consultation that leaves you with a fabulous cut.
