New Years Eve DIY Hairstyles

With a new year approaching, its time to ring in the new year with some easy-to-do styles that will have everyone celebrating. To achieve each of these looks you’ll need the following:

  • A teasing comb

  • Bobbi Pins and Hair Pins

  • Hair Bands

  • Heat Protecting Spray

  • Strong Hold Hair Spray

  • Texture Spray

  • Curling Iron

  • Hair Jewelry (Optional)

Sleek High Bun

  1. Prep your hair by combing through and smoothing. If you are prone to frizziness, running a flat iron through your hair will help amplify the sleekness.

  2. Section your hair into 3 sections- Two sections in front of your ears, separated where you part your hair and one section in the back.

  3. Put the back section into a medium to high ponytail

  4. Split the ponytail into two strands and loosely twist, putting a hair band at the end

  5. Twist the ponytail around its base and secure with hair pins. Use your texture spray to fluff the hair out for more volume.

  6. Working on each side of the front section, bring the ends of your hair around the base of the ponytail and secure with bobbi pins.

  7. Optional- leave the front pieces out and use a hot tool for a slight curl to add some face framing pieces.

  8. Finish off with a strong hair spray to hold the style all night.

Textured Boho Bun

  1. Prep the hair using a curling iron, curling every piece. These curls don’t have to be tight or structured, you’re just adding texture to your hair. Be sure to use a heat protectant!

  2. Section curled hair into four sections- Two in front of the ears where your hair naturally parts, one at the crown of your head and another section below the crown.

  3. Take the section below the crown and put it into a low bun. You can use a teasing comb here to get extra volume and texture. Pin pieces loosely around the base. Use a texture spray as you’re working to hold the curl in place.

  4. Take your crown section and use a teasing comb to tease your hair for added volume. Pin the base of this section to the base of your bun using bobbi pins. Use hair pins to tuck the ends of your crown section around your bun for a fuller look.

  5. Pull out any ends for a more boho look

  6. Twist the front two sections back and secure around the base of the bun.

  7. Optional- Add some hair jewelry to elevate this look and match your outfit.

  8. Secure the entire look with a strong hair spray.

Bubble Braid Half Up-Half Down

  1. Prep the hair by curling each piece, making sure to use a heat protectant, with a curling iron that has your desired curl size. This look was created with a 1” curling iron. Use a texture or light hold hairspray to hold the curl as you work through the rest of the style.

  2. Section your hair into three sections- two in front of your ears where your hair naturally parts and one section at the crown. Make sure to leave enough hair out below the crown for desired fullness.

  3. Starting at the crown, tease the section at the top to desired fullness. Make a ponytail at the base using a hair band. Add another hair band an inch or two below it and pull lightly upwards and outwards to create the “bubble” effect. Do this down the entire ponytail until you only have about an inch or two at the bottom.

  4. Twist your two front sections back and over your top base ponytail and secure with bobbi pins.

  5. Optional- add a shine or glitter spray for a festive sparkly look.

  6. Secure the entire look with a strong hold hair spray and recurl any pieces that fell during the styling process

We hope you have a happy new year with some happy new styles!
